Garmin Memory Card Quick Tips

Contents:  Memory card with Preloaded 2009 Europe Maps – Pretested before shipment.  In rare occasions, the card memory can be corrupted during shipment and we are happy to replace card right away, however this is extremely rare.

Place in memory card slot before you power on unit.  On most garmin units, you can select under system menus (map info) whether to use USA maps or European with check boxes next to each  and both should be selected.  Most customers leave both selected USA and Europe Selected since the unit can get confused when you are still in the USA.  You can take the card out when Europe maps are not needed, but make sure you have North America selected beforehand.

IMPORTANT TIP:  When you travel back and forth and arrive in new region (Europe versus USA), the unit may not realize which mapset to access.  To aid unit in updating the region change, try selecting both mapsets until the unit locks onto satellites (up to 20 minutes). You can then deselect the map region you aren’t using with menu options described above.

Testing in the USA: Select Where to, Near (bottom), A Different City, OK, type city name, look for foreign city in list, browse map should display foreign maps.  You can also use Where to, Spell Country, search all, D (street), 5 (house number), done select a street, Show Map (bottom).
